An enhanced method of storing data on to a CD-ROM disc that lets the computer read sound from the disc at the same time as images or text. If you want to play a CD-ROM XA disc on your computer, you will need to make sure that the CD-ROM drive is XA compliant. Watch out! Some PC manufacturers get confused between CD-ROM XA and PhotoCD-compatible: a CD-ROM XA drive can read a PhotoCD.
